About us/History

We are a non-profit making group of, at present 3 people. We are also members of a large internet-based fan group of Dalek Builders which is also a non-profit making organization.

The South West Dalek Crew started in 2005 and thought it would be a great idea to get together and start raising monies for charities using our so called 'toys'.

AIM:

To use our Daleks and vehicle primarily to help raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity but we are also available to help at other fund-raising events for Clubs, Groups, etc.

Please note- We do appologise that we can not do private functions such as Birthday or Christmas partys and the such like, as our fan built Daleks are in no way officially or endorsed by the BBC or Nation Estate, and to avoid any legal action and the chance to use our builds for charity work this would also contravene our non-profit making status Thankyou.

IMPORTANT MILE STONES:

August 2005   - We helped to raise money to pay for nursing care for Marie Curie Cancer Care at their Ladies Driving Challenge at RAF Colerne, Wiltshire. While doing this we agreed it would be great to offer our services to help raise money and awareness of the charity on a more regular basis, and have a number of events planned for 2006.

November 2005 - We donated over £400 to BBC's Children In Need by taking our Daleks out to a local shopping centre in Bristol.

December 2005 - We started contacting various companies about sponsorship so we could buy a vehicle to use as a transport/event stand. In return, the companies will receive 4 - 5 years of free logo space on each side of the vehicle thanking them for their kind help in our cause.

February 2006 - We purchased a second hand library vehicle which is currently undergoing modification and kitting out   to transport the Daleks to events.

So far this year we are aiming to attend at least 5 or 6 of the Marie Curie events. We are also attending a large number of Sci-Fi Conventions and Exhibitions which will allow us to continue fund-raising for Marie Curie (whilst also having fun!).  We will have great pleasure in handing over the proceeds at the Marie Curie Cancer Care event, at the end of the year in London.

The events we attend, draw huge numbers of people with up to 14,000 people at one 3 day event.

Every quarter we will report on our fundraising. Why not check back and see how we are doing!

We will also post pictures of events attended in our photo section for you to enjoy.

We will be regularly updating our list of Forthcoming Events if you would like to come and see us in action!
